Lights! Camera! Action! A bit of Hollywood came to the MSC campus on Tuesday, April 15, as the annual Greenway Awards were held in the lobby of the Student Life Center.

The Greenway Awards are presented to students involved in producing the highest quality digital media productions throughout the year at MSC. Judges for this year’s awards were MSC-TV advisors Dr. David Sidore and Dr. Patrick Brennan.

MSC-TV Program Coordinator Brandon Thompson welcomed everyone to this year’s ceremony and introduced this year’s special guests, Mr. Lee Greenway and Mr. Jerome de Gratigny.

Greenway was the first program coordinator of MSC-TV and de Gratigny is a former MSC-TV member who now has an award named after him.

Submissions for this year’s awards included content from the Journalism 3131 class, the Principles of Production classes as well as individually produced MSC-TV segments.

Thompson told all the people who have been involved in MSC-TV this year, “that it’s been great meeting everybody and teaching everybody. I think we have accomplished a lot.”

Some of the awards given out included the Award for Best Camera Work presented to Aaron Miller and Brandon Thompson for Eli.

The Best Video Editing award went to Con Browning for The Body Beautiful: Deanna Sage.

Amanda White won an award for Best On-Air Talent in the film Guilty Conscience.

Con Browning, Andrew Welsh and Janita Thomie received the award for Best On Campus Segment for their Journalism 3131 story: Rebecca Lanning, a Performance to Remember. When asked how he felt about winning the award, Welsh paused and said, “Special.”

Michael McGee, a junior CIT major, received the Best Overall Production award for his show The 411. “I am very proud of this award and very proud of the work I did” McGee said. “This is a really good program here at MSCTV and if anybody is interested in television or news, they should join us.” McGee also added that his goals for the future include having his own talk show.

The final award presented was the new Jerome de Gratigny Service Award. This year’s recipient of the de Gratigny Service Award was Con Browning for all his hard work and dedication to MSCTV throughout the last year.

“The awards went great!” Brandon Thompson said. “I was proud to show off everybody’s work. Everybody did a great job this year. I was excited about all the films that were included in this year’s awards.”
