april7-2.jpgThe Warner Robins campus of Macon State College held a Family Night on Friday, March 21. The night featured family-oriented entertainment like face painting, arts and crafts, a giant slide, free food and egg hunts.

Kevion Chatfield, a student at the Warner Robins campus and an MSC student worker, served hot dogs at the Nu-Way hot dog booth. “I have enjoyed serving the Macon State students the free Nu-Way hot dogs,” Chatfield said. “And I’ve also enjoyed watching all the kids have a good time,” he added.

Dr. Kim Pickens, Assistant Professor of Biology, and Richard “Snoopy” Dry, a junior biology major, worked the concession booth. Dry made blue cotton candy while Dr. Pickens served it to the crowd.

Snow cones were a popular treat for all at the Family Night! Bill Blunk, a junior IT major, made the colorful and icy treats for kids of all ages.

Marcell Richardson and his sister Rochelle Richardson had a great time at Family Night. While enjoying a Nu-Way hot dog, Rochelle said she liked going

on the giant slide. “I like the slide, too!” Marcell said, “And I am going to hunt eggs and see the Bunny!”

Sophomore engineering student Andrea Braswell brought her kids out to enjoy Family Night. “I am the mother of three children and I work full time. The children love it and I don’t have to cook tonight,” Braswell said. Braswell’s two-year old son, Teddy, made bunny ears at the arts and crafts table and showed off his basket filled with eggs and treats.

One of the most popular activities was the train ride. Sondra Wiseniske, a Student Assistant at the Warner Robins Student Life Office, helped out.

“It’s been great!” she said. “We’ve had lots of kids come out and want to ride. This is the longest ride they’ve been able to take on a train.”

MSC student Tarie Letchworth and her daughter Katelyn enjoyed the warm weather during the Family Night festivities and had fun hunting eggs.

The Bunny posed for pictures and attended the egg hunts for all the age groups. Eager children descended onto the lawn in search of as many eggs as they could find when Student Life Program Coordinator Brae Clendenon yelled “Get set…Go!”april7-bunny-5.jpg

Family Night is offered by the office of Student Life and paid for out of student activity fees.
