christinaguileragif.jpgHave you decided what to wear for spring break yet? If you haven’t, don’t worry-as long as you decide to wear vintage. Vintage or “retro” clothes are back in a big way this year and the style is influencing everything from makeup to shoes. Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson are both big fans of this trend and it is no wonder, because it is a lot of fun and it is fashionable.Inspired by old movie stars like Marilyn Monroe, makeup is kept very minimal except for bold red lipstick. The lipstick must match the fingernail polish—also as red as you can possibly stand. Inspired by the whimsical ‘50s, shirts are done in colorful polka dots or black and white stripes. It is best not to get too crazy with the patterns, so pairing a shirt like that with a wide black belt is best.

It is going to get warm soon, but it is still cool enough on some days to warrant wearing a jacket. That’s a good thing because long coats are in style, so pray for weather to stay cold. White jackets with oversized buttons go well with pants, but short tweed jackets work too.

You might as well toss out all your flat shoes for now, because high heels are the only acceptable shoes to wear. Skinny stiletto heels look best in shiny faux leather, in almost any color imaginable. The shoes are a throwback to the 1930s, when burlesque singers brought the style of tall stilettos to the masses. They really become quite easy to walk in after you fall a dozen times.

No outfit from any time period is complete without accessories. Jewelry is quite innocent: pearls, gold brooches and diamond earrings. A watch or anything plastic looking is out of the question. If you do not own the real thing, at least buy fakes that look real. There is no such thing as too many pearls, even if you wear a pearl necklace and a pearl bracelet at the same time. Pearls are the classic accessories that go with everything, even jeans.

The old Hollywood look is not complete without oversized Jackie O style sunglasses—the bigger, the better. A pair of huge sunglasses alone will make you look trendy without even any effort!

Nice post. Yes I agree high heels are very trendy and in fashion. But I must say one should look for good brands and some sort of secure structures when going for high heels.

My humble advice would be; Buy shoes that fit, Prefer leather shoes instead of synthetics because leather is more forbearing. Be careful about the pointy-toed, high heels. It is best to avoid really high heels. I think chunky heels are much more stable than stilettos. Aim to wear a wider, more supportive heel or even no harm to convert to platforms.

No doubt fashion is important but your feet are very precious after all, so take a little bit precautions when selecting shoes for these.
