Welcome to the new portal

Hello, this is Harry Underwood, the new webmaster for the Macon Statement portal. As a sophomore in CIT and a relatively-recent hire to the newly-revamped newspaper’s staff, I’m very excited and anxious for the immense potential of the entire Student Media department, which includes the Statement, MSC-TV and the Fall Line Review. As a website designer, however, I have noticed that student media, as a distinct media genre in the Middle Georgia area, has a long process of progress to traverse in regards to its availability and accessibility on the World Wide Web.

Therefore, I, Aisling and the staff of both the Statement and MSC-TV are currently in the process of completely revamping and unifying our efforts towards an increase of the online availability of news and information from the perspective of Macon State College’s student body. This will, hopefully, come in the form of

  • a unified (and more professional) theme and user account system for the websites of both entities
  • embedding of original MSC-TV video in Adobe Flash onto our blog posts where appropriate.
  • Flash-based embedding of (and linking to) PDF-formatted renditions of our bi-monthly print editions of the Macon Statement within the same day of press.
  • Photo galleries of events.
  • User forum.
  • Original blog posts from our staff writers and occasional guest writers.

…and these are just preliminary goals, the “tip of the iceberg”.

We hope that the upcoming improvements can better involve and engage our readers, both inside and outside the college. Please don’t hesitate to inform us for desired improvements.

Amen to the progress needed for student communication on the Web. It is awesome to see a site outside of our local intrAnet. All the best. Matthew (Student Veterans)
